most memorable role was likely Dan Tanna, the private detective at the
center of "Vega$". The show ran on ABC from 1978 to 1981.
Urich's role as a crime-solver led, however, to his starring role in
another ABC detective series "Spenser: For Hire". On Tuesday
April 16th, The 55-year-old, Emmy-winning actor passed away surrounded
by family and friends at a Los Angeles area hospital. Urich first
announced he had a rare form of cancer, mesothelioma, in 1996.
He underwent several treatments to fight the cancer during the last
years of his life.
